The thorough reconstruction of the Sava Congress Center in Belgrade officially began today. It is estimated that the reconstruction will last for two years, i.e. that the completely renovated Sava Center will welcome its first guests at the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024.
Since 2020 Sava Center has been a part of Delta Holding Company, that made the best offer at the public tender of the City of Belgrade.
"We will do a complete reconstruction, preserving the external appearance and all the features that are protected by the decisions of the institutions," says Katarina Gajic, director of design and construction at Delta Real Estate. "We will replace installations, equipment, glass facade, introduce completely new multimedia and communication content. It is estimated that such an intervention will require at least 60 million euros, which we will provide through project financing, in cooperation with the banks. About 1,000 workers will be employed during the works on the construction site. "
According to the obligation accepted by the new owner during the purchase, Sava Center will keep its purpose and appearance.
"The renovated Sava Center will have modern and attractive networking spaces, smaller halls for corporate gatherings and parallel sessions during large congresses. A business zone is planned, followed by a shopping zone with additional facilities. The renovated Center will be an energy efficient building in accordance with the modern standards of safety and sustainability ", says Kristina Mirosavljević, director of the Sava Center. "The goal is for Belgrade to have a modern, best in the region and globally recognizable congress center, as the Sava Center has been since its founding."
Reconstruction of the largest congress center in the region has been entrusted to domestic companies. The general contractor will be the Jadran company, the contractor will be Armont, the supervision will be entrusted to the Zoling company, and the designer will be Centroprojekt.
