By raising its socially responsible business to even a higher level, Delta Holding has adjusted the entire marking of the New Year holidays to the corporate social responsibility concept, and the year of 2010 was pronounced the year of ecology in the Company.
2009
At the end of the year, the Delta Holding published its first report on socially responsible business. Delta is, among other, the founder of two funds: Delta Humanitarian Fund, which carries out strategically important and enduring projects, has announced building of the Delta endowment, daycare center for children with disabilities. This is the first endowment in Serbia after 70 years and the investment is worth around two million Euros. Fund for the Future is engaged in socialization, education and employment of children without parental care; 150 protégés have been through this program to date.
By now, the company has demonstrated its corporate responsibility through all forms of corporate responsibility, from its relationship with the employees, through highest standards of products and services, to care for the social community and environmental protection. In most cases, the company acted proactively, before the legal norms for a certain activity were in place. Delta Maxi was the first retail chain in the region to introduce biodegradable bags, while over 100 persons with disabilities are employed in the Delta Group, before the legal responsibility of hiring persons with disabilities was introduced.
The Delta Holding calendar for 2010 is designed as an invitation to the ecological responsibility. It contains 12 pieces of advice for ecologically better 2010. Its circulation is minimal and is printed on ecologically recycled paper.
All paper accessories, notebooks, planners, as well as the CSR report were also printed in the limited number of copies and on the recycled paper.
Delta Holding and its members have changed the standard concept of the holiday lights. Energy consumption for the additional lighting of the central building was 4 times decreased.
2010
In accordance with the latest world discoveries and the practice announced by the European Union, special attention in the next year will be dedicated to environmental protection.
New Year’s cards for Delta Holding were made by the children without parental care from several homes, on the subject of protection of nature. The revenue collected this way will be used to change about 1,000 light bulbs in homes with the new generation energy saving bulbs. This will decrease energy consumption, and further lead to decreasing of maintenance costs in homes, due to the greater longevity of energy savings lights.
Delta Holding will carry out several ecological events in 2010. The first will be initiation of the strongest campaign for the promotion of energy savings bulbs, as a way to save tremendous amounts of electrical energy. By now, the company has changed over 1,000 conventional light bulbs with energy savings bulbs. Education of citizens on the need for saving energy resources and efficient utilization of the existing natural resources will be organized in the beginning of next year, through giving away free energy saving bulbs and their promotional sale.
